Interview with Marianne (Blue Team)

Well, it’s time for the first character interview! I’ve never done something like this before so this’ll be interesting. Today I’ll be interviewing Marianne, the protagonist of my webcomic-in-planning, Blue Team. Thanks to everyone who left questions! Now, on to the questions.

Me: First we have a lot of questions from GoAgainstTheFlow on Ravelry. We’ll start with the easy ones. Question one: Do you like animals?

Marianne: *sits perfectly straight and still in her chair* Yes, generally speaking. My favourites are swans and snowbirds.

(note: Snowbirds are like phoenixes, but with ice instead of fire)

Me: Right. Second question: Can you speak more than one language?

Marianne: Yes. Other than Universal, I can speak fluent Svelmal and a little Shinzhou. I can also read Old Cardonian, and speak a little bit.

Me: Next question: Do you get along with other people?

Marianne: I try, but I don’t think I’m very good at it. I don’t generally seem to make positive first impressions no matter what I try.

Me: Question four: What do you like to do when you’re alone?

Marianne: If I don’t have any work to do, I mostly read or listen to music. Sometimes I practice my ice magic but I don’t really enjoy it.

Me: The next two questions go together so I’ll ask them at once: What gets you really angry, and what calms you down?

Marianne: *frowns and looks away for a while* I suppose when people push sensitive subjects. *pauses and starts again* There are a lot of things that irritate me but you’d have to push it pretty far to get me to snap. Just closing my eyes and ignoring everything is usually the easiest way for me to calm down.

Me: Right, last question from GoAgainstTheFlow: What’s your least favourite chore/responsibility?

Marianne: Training with my ice magic. It used to be fun but now it just makes me feel… bad. Still, it’s a necessary evil so I just train hard and try to get it over with quickly.

Me: Alright. Next we have three questions from charismac6 on Ravelry. First question: Do you like anyone?

Marianne: …I assume you mean romantically. In which case, no. Otherwise, I like most of the people at Dove more or less. They’re very nice for the most part.

Me: Question two: What’s your sister’s ability? (you know, if she has one)

Marianne: *stiffens* She doesn’t have an ability. Next question please.

Me: Alright. Last question from charisma: What are you most skilled at?

Marianne: *relaxes slightly* According to Cassandra and the others, it’s leadership. I don’t really agree though. I’m quite good at ice-skating though, if that counts.

Me: Right. Last we have several questions from Picklesthehamster on Ravelry. First question: Who do you find most hard to handle on your team?

Marianne: Johanna and I fight a lot, but she’s actually surprisingly cooperative during assignments and training. Elliot’s actually the hardest to handle. He doesn’t seem to understand the reason for rules, or if he does, he doesn’t think they apply to him. He’s also so good at arguing his point I can’t get him to follow them.

Me: Interesting. Second question: Do you like Music?

Marianne: I can’t play, but I do like to listen to it. I like calming classical music the most.

Me: Next question: Why do you wear blue all the time even before you were put on blue team?

Marianne: I don’t always wear blue; I wear quite a lot of white too. But anyway, it’s partly because I like the colour, but it’s also practically a family tradition. A little like how the Raikami clan wears a lot of black, but less official.

Me: Interesting. I hadn’t really thought about it before. Next question: Why are you the family heir, not your sister?

Marianne: *stiffens again, and looks away* Because I’m magically gifted and she’s not. It’s… traditional. How many questions are there left?

Me: Just one. What scares you the most?

Marianne: *still looking away* Letting people down, and not living up to their expectations.

Me: Well that was surprisingly candid. Anyway, that’s all the questions we have this time. I hope you all enjoyed that. Let me know if it’s something you’d be interested in seeing more of. Next month we’ll hopefully be interviewing Adelle. Thank you again for all the questions, and thank you for reading!

Questions for Marianne!

Remember in my last post when I said I might start doing character interviews? Well, it’s time for the first one! This time we’ll be interviewing Marianne, the protagonist of Blue Team, the webcomic I’m planning. Here’s a bit about her (and a little bit about the rest of the main cast):

marianne_character_ref_by_purple_dragon57-d9yaydd

Marianne is a magically gifted seventeen-year old Fey-Blood with the ability to manipulate ice. She lives in the futuristic forest city of Unity, where fairies, humans, and everyone in between can live together in peace. Due to her ability she’s the heir to the ancient and wealthy Svenson family, despite having an older sister, Sonja. Because of this she feels an enormous amount of pressure to exceed everyone’s expectations, and as a result has become overly formal and reserved, with few friends.

In an attempt to loosen her up, her father gets her to join the Dove Organization, a new branch of law enforcement devoted to protecting Unity from magical crimes. To her dismay she becomes leader of Blue Team, made up of several… unusual… teenagers: Jackson, a powerful empath who seems even more reserved than herself; Johanna, a reckless thrill seeker with enhanced reflexes; Elliot, a genius with absolutely no regard for rules or regulations; and Adelle, a mysterious and decidedly childish telekinetic.

Leave your questions in the comments below, and she’ll answer them hopefully on Saturday the 23rd of April!

A Month In Review: March 2016

Month In Review - Mar. 2016

I had been planning on posting this yesterday, but then I decided posting anything on April Fool’s Day might not be such a great idea. So here we are. Once again, I didn’t blog at all this month. But I am determined not to let that happen again in April!

Happy Easter every one, by the way! (It totally still counts as being Easter) Hope you all had a nice time whether you celebrate or not. Now! On to what I’ve been up to this month!

I went to my first con this month! 😀 I went to Raicon in Glasgow with my dad and my sister. It was a relatively small anime con, and wow it was fantastic. My older brother came for part of the time too which was awesome. There were a ton of epic cosplays, and I got some absolutely gorgeous Studio Ghibli prints from Crafty Marten. I hope we can go again next year 😀

We also have Easter holidays now, which has been fun.

I did a ton of art this month, including a really big piece which was really fun.

Things I Watched

things watched Mar. 2016

I discovered Miraculous Ladybug this month. It’s absolutely fantastic and certainly deserves the hype it’s been getting all over the internet. I also met quite a lot of new people through it, which was nice.

I watched Patema Inverted with my siblings on a whim, after seeing cool gifs on the internet. (that’s literally what happened). Holy mother of cheese, that movie was incredible. Super confusing, but incredible and thought provoking and absolutely gorgeous. Just go watch it already.

On Monday we went to see Zootopia in the cinema, and it was even better than I thought it would be. Disney’s animated movies just seem to be getting better and better. Another one you should watch as soon as possible.

Anime wise, loads of the series we’ve been watching finished this month. Prince of Stride came to a slightly rushed yet satisfying conclusion. Season two of Akagami no Shirayuki-hime ended and there was so. much. cuteness. Fairy Tail 2014 came to an end after two episodes of the Avatar arc after Fairy Tail Zero. The ending was so perfect it made me cry. Lastly, season two of Haikyuu!! ended rather openly. I’m looking forwards to season 3, which comes out some time this Autumn. That anime makes me so happy 😀

Things I Read

books read Mar. 2016

Once again I didn’t read much this month. I really need some suggestions for books to try. I continued reading Rave Master, which continues to be interesting and enjoyable. I’m almost finished reading the Sherlock Holmes series. It’s a bit of a pain trying to find the last book. I also read the third Heist Society book, Perfect Scoundrels. It was pretty different from the first two, and I’m not quite sure whether it’s the last book or not.

Elsewhere on the Internet

Fandom Stuff:

The Fairy Tail anime came to an end (again). It’s been announced that they’re working on a new project headed by Mashima himself, but nothing’s been announced about exactly what the project is.

Season 6 of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic began with a relatively underwhelming two part opener.

Next Month

Captain America: Civil War comes out in the UK! Super excited for that.

Camp NaNoWriMo begins. I won’t be joining in but I hope those of you who are have a great time.

Akumasona/Miracusona Week One will be happening from the 20th to the 25th. Both me and my sister will be participating.

I’m hoping to start doing character interviews here! Basically all you lovely people (and probably some people from other sites as well) ask my characters questions and they answer them in an interview style post. Let me know if that’s something you would be interested in seeing.

Well, that’s what I’ve been up to! How was your March? Have you seen or read any of the things I did this month, and is there anything you think I should try? Have you ever been to a con? And would you be interested in seeing character interviews? I hope you all have a great April!
